About this course

HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is the standard first aid qualification required in most workplaces and includes CPR (HLTAID009) and basic emergency life support (HLTAID010) components.   Performance Criteria Participants will be assessed on their ability to effectively demonstrate the following key skills:
  • Responding to Emergencies: Assessing the scene for danger, determining the nature of the injury or illness, and following the DRSABCD action plan to provide an appropriate response.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Performing high-quality CPR on both adults and infants in line with current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
  • Use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator): Safely applying and operating an AED in a simulated emergency situation.
  • Managing a Range of First Aid Situations: Providing first aid for bleeding, fractures, burns, asthma, anaphylaxis, shock, choking, head injuries, bites and stings, diabetes, seizures, and other common medical conditions.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Applying appropriate infection control procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining personal safety during treatment.
  • Communication and Reporting: Accurately conveying information to emergency services, completing incident reports, and maintaining records as required in a workplace or community setting.
  • Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understanding duty of care, confidentiality, consent, and the legal responsibilities of a first aider.
