Ideal for plant operators and earthmoving personnel, this unit ensures competency in operating articulated haul trucks in accordance with workplace procedures and current industry safety standards.   Performance Criteria Participants will be assessed on their ability to competently perform the following tasks:

• Planning and Preparation: Interpreting work instructions and job requirements, conducting site hazard assessments, and selecting appropriate tools and equipment.
• Conducting Pre-Start Checks: Performing routine inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the articulated haul truck is safe, operational, and compliant with manufacturer specifications.
• Safe Operation of the Truck: Operating the articulated haul truck to load, haul, and dump materials across varied site conditions. This includes manoeuvring on slopes, uneven ground, and within designated load limits.
• Load Management: Ensuring loads are evenly distributed, secure, and handled in a way that prevents spillage and maintains vehicle stability throughout the operation.
• Traffic Management and Site Safety: Following traffic control measures, signs, signals, and communicating effectively with other workers and machinery on-site to ensure smooth and safe operations.
• Post-Operation Procedures: Carrying out shutdown procedures, including cleaning, isolating, and parking the vehicle safely, as well as reporting any faults or issues.
• Workplace Health and Safety Compliance: Applying site-specific and legislative safety practices, using appropriate PPE, and responding to potential hazards promptly and effectively.
