The course is ideal for individuals seeking to develop or formalise their capabilities in plant operations, particularly within high-production sites that require the safe and efficient use of heavy vehicles.   Performance Criteria Participants will be required to demonstrate their competency in the following areas:

• Planning and Preparation: Reading and interpreting job instructions, assessing site conditions and hazards, and preparing the truck and work area in accordance with operational requirements.
• Pre-Operational Inspections: Performing systematic checks of the rigid haul truck to ensure it's in safe working order and reporting any faults or defects according to workplace procedures.
• Operating the Haul Truck: Safely operating the rigid haul truck to load, haul, and dump materials, ensuring smooth and controlled movement across varied terrain and within specified load limits.
• Load Management: Ensuring proper load distribution, maintaining stability, and preventing overloading or spillage during operation.
• Traffic Control and Communication: Working safely within site traffic management plans, responding to signals and signage, and maintaining communication with supervisors and other plant operators.
• Shutdown Procedures: Performing safe shutdown, cleaning, and parking procedures, and ensuring the truck is secured and post-operation requirements are completed.
• Workplace Health and Safety: Complying with WHS regulations, site policies, and safe work practices to minimise risks to self and others while on site.
