Remove Friable Asbestos

The CPCCDE3015 – Remove Friable Asbestos course equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely identify, prepare, and remove friable asbestos in compliance with WHS regulations. Friable asbestos is high-risk and requires strict controls; therefore, workers undertaking this task must be trained and employed by a licensed Class A asbestos removalist.

Remove Friable Asbestos

This course focuses on the safe removal of friable asbestos and asbestos-containing materials (ACM) that can be crumbled, pulverised, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Training covers the advanced procedures and safety protocols required for high-risk asbestos removal work.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding legislation, codes of practice, and WHS requirements for friable asbestos removal.
  • Identifying friable asbestos and ACM in various forms.
  • Preparing and isolating the asbestos removal area.
  • Correct use of advanced PPE and respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
  • Setting up and working within negative pressure enclosures.
  • Decontamination and waste disposal procedures.
  • Emergency response, air monitoring, and clearance procedures.
  • Completion of removal records and compliance documentation.
Pre-Requisites

In order to obtain abatement work certification for Class A and Class B License, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  • Class B
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Obtained one year of relevant experience in the industry
    • A certificate in Remove non-friable asbestos (CPCCDE3014A) or Remove friable asbestos (CPCCDE3015A)
    • Hold a valid White Card (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry).
    • Possess basic English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
    • Provide two forms of identification (e.g., driver’s licence and Medicare card).
    • Wear appropriate PPE, including steel-capped boots, high-visibility clothing, and hard hat.

 

  • Class A
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Obtained three years of relevant experience in the industry after completing the qualifications
    • A certificate in Remove friable asbestos (CPCCDE3015A) and Supervise asbestos removal (CPCCBC4051A)
    • Hold a valid White Card (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry).
    • Possess basic English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
    • Provide two forms of identification (e.g., driver’s licence and Medicare card).
    • Wear appropriate PPE, including steel-capped boots, high-visibility clothing, and hard hat.

Payment in full is required at enrolment and must be made at least 4 days before your course date to secure your booking.

STEP123 complies with RTO standards and does not collect over $1,500 in advance. Payment options include credit/debit card, bank transfer, Afterpay, or approved group/workplace invoicing. For those facing financial difficulty, flexible arrangements can be discussed prior to enrolment.

Refunds are only available for cancellations made 48+ hours before class (50% refund). Cancellations within 48 hours or after class starts are non-refundable. Refunds are processed within 14 days.

Reschedule requests made more than 24 hours before class are allowed once for free. Requests within 24 hours require a new booking and payment. If STEP123 cancels or reschedules a class, students will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost.
