Operate Elevating Work Platform
The RIIHAN301E – Operate Elevating Work Platform (EWP) course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to safely operate an elevating work platform (boom lift or scissor lift) under 11 metres. This nationally recognised qualification is ideal for those working in construction, maintenance, warehousing, and industrial sectors where elevated work is required.

Operate Elevating Work Platform
This course covers both theoretical and practical training to ensure participants can operate EWPs safely and efficiently in line with WHS legislation and site requirements. It is suitable for those needing to conduct tasks at height using boom lifts, scissor lifts, or other EWPs with a platform height under 11m.
Key learning outcomes include:
- Pre-operational checks and equipment maintenance.
- Safe operation of EWPs including boom and scissor lifts.
- Understanding safe work methods and height safety requirements.
- Hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency procedures.
- Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including harnesses.
- Shut down and securing of equipment after use.
Pre-Requisites
To enrol in this course, participants must:
- Be at least 16 years of age (parent/guardian consent if under 18).
- Hold a valid White Card (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry).
- Possess basic English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
- Provide two forms of identification (e.g., driver’s licence and Medicare card).
- Wear appropriate PPE, including steel-capped boots, high-visibility clothing, and hard hat.
Payment & Booking Terms
Payment in full is required at enrolment and must be made at least 4 days before your course date to secure your booking.
STEP123 complies with RTO standards and does not collect over $1,500 in advance. Payment options include credit/debit card, bank transfer, Afterpay, or approved group/workplace invoicing. For those facing financial difficulty, flexible arrangements can be discussed prior to enrolment.
Refunds are only available for cancellations made 48+ hours before class (50% refund). Cancellations within 48 hours or after class starts are non-refundable. Refunds are processed within 14 days.
Reschedule requests made more than 24 hours before class are allowed once for free. Requests within 24 hours require a new booking and payment. If STEP123 cancels or reschedules a class, students will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost.
