Remove Friable Asbestos
The CPCCDE3015 – Remove Friable Asbestos course equips participants with the specialised skills and knowledge required to safely identify, prepare, and remove friable asbestos within civil construction environments, in full compliance with WHS regulations. Friable asbestos presents a high risk on infrastructure and earthworks projects, requiring strict control measures; therefore, all removal work must be carried out by trained personnel employed by a licensed Class A asbestos removalist.
Remove Friable Asbestos
This course focuses on the safe removal of friable asbestos and asbestos-containing materials (ACM) commonly encountered in civil construction activities such as demolition, excavation, and infrastructure upgrades. Friable asbestos—materials that can be easily crumbled or reduced to powder—poses a significant risk on-site, requiring strict adherence to advanced safety procedures and control measures.
Key learning outcomes include:
- Understanding relevant legislation, codes of practice, and WHS requirements for friable asbestos removal in civil construction projects.
- Identifying friable asbestos and ACM across various civil construction environments, including underground services and older infrastructure.
- Preparing, isolating, and securing asbestos removal zones on active construction sites.
- Correct use of advanced PPE and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) suited to high-risk site conditions.
- Setting up and operating within negative pressure enclosures in civil construction settings.
- Implementing decontamination processes and safe transport and disposal of asbestos waste.
- Managing emergency situations, conducting air monitoring, and following clearance procedures.
- Completing required removal documentation and compliance records in line with project and regulatory requirements.
