The RIIMPO337E – Conduct Articulated Haul Truck Operations course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate an articulated haul truck in resources and infrastructure environments. This nationally recognised course is suitable for individuals seeking work in civil construction, earthmoving, quarrying, mining or other projects where articulated haul trucks are used to transport materials.

This course combines theory and practical training to develop the skills required to safely operate an articulated haul truck. Participants will learn how to prepare the machine for operation, position it for loading, transport and discharge materials, and complete shutdown procedures in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements, workplace procedures and industry standards.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Conducting pre-operational inspections and identifying or reporting equipment faults.
  • Interpreting work instructions, site plans and operational requirements.
  • Positioning the haul truck safely for loading and transporting materials.
  • Operating safely on haul roads, slopes and changing ground conditions.
  • Manoeuvring, tipping and discharging materials at designated locations.
  • Identifying hazards and implementing appropriate risk-control measures.
  • Safely parking, shutting down and securing the articulated haul truck.
  • Completing basic operator maintenance and required workplace documentation.
Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a valid White Card (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry).
  • Possess basic English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
  • Provide two forms of identification (e.g., driver’s licence and Medicare card).
  • Wear appropriate PPE, including steel-capped boots, high-visibility clothing, and hard hat.

Payment in full is required at enrolment and must be made at least 4 days before your course date to secure your booking.

STEP123 complies with RTO standards and does not collect over $1,500 in advance. Payment options include credit/debit card, bank transfer, Afterpay, or approved group/workplace invoicing. For those facing financial difficulty, flexible arrangements can be discussed prior to enrolment.

Refunds are only available for cancellations made 48+ hours before class (50% refund). Cancellations within 48 hours or after class starts are non-refundable. Refunds are processed within 14 days.

Reschedule requests made more than 24 hours before class are allowed once for free. Requests within 24 hours require a new booking and payment. If STEP123 cancels or reschedules a class, students will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost.
